What does the Disposable Kitchen Liner Pack include?
Each pack includes 4 disposable kitchen liners, sized to fit perfectly inside the Guinea Colony Kitchen base.
Can I reuse the liners?
Yes—many customers reuse their liners multiple times, depending on their guinea pigs’ habits. If your pigs mainly use the kitchen for pooping, the liners stay clean longer and can be reused with ease. However, in households with multiple pigs or heavy pee habits, the liners may get soiled more quickly and need to be swapped more often.
How long do the liners last?
It depends on both your pigs' preferences and your own cleaning routine. If the liner stays relatively clean, you may use it for a week or more. In messier setups, we recommend changing it every 3 days—especially if you're doing a mid-week partial clean followed by a full weekend refresh.
Do I need these liners to use the kitchen?
No, the acrylic kitchen base can be used without them. But these liners make cleanup significantly easier—you can lift out the entire liner and toss the contents without wiping down the base after each use. Without a liner, cleanup takes a little more effort.
Can I use these with disposable bedding?
Absolutely! These liners are designed to be used with paper, pellet, or other absorbent bedding layered on top. When it’s time to clean, just lift and toss the whole setup for a quick reset.
Can I compost the used liners?
Yes! The paperboard material is compostable, provided your local composting facility accepts soiled pet bedding. Be sure to check your area’s guidelines.
Can I use the liners without the acrylic kitchen?
Yes. While these liners were made to pair with our acrylic kitchen base, they’re sturdy enough to function on their own. You can place them directly in your habitat setup, though for best results and structure, we recommend using them inside the kitchen base.
What if my guinea pig nibbles on the liner?
The liners are made from food-grade paperboard—similar to what’s used in many takeout containers—so occasional nibbling isn’t harmful.
